Rural Infant Services Program

RISP offers early help to infants and toddlers (from birth to age three) who have a condition that is likely to cause developmental delays, already have a delay, or are developing differently. The goal is to help parents and caregivers support their child's growth, reduce the impact of the delay or disability, improve how the child functions, and help them join in home and community activities. These services can take place at home or in the community.
The services focus on the child’s overall development, including:
- Communication
- Physical growth
- Thinking and learning skills
- Social and emotional skills
- Adaptive skills (learning to do everyday tasks)
Developmental screenings and assessments are free for families. Special services like physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and nursing services are billed to insurance. There may be extra fees, but no family will be turned away because they can't pay.
