Discrimination is Against the Law
MPNN Behavioral Health complies with applicable Federal civil rights laws and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ("ADA"). MPNN BH does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin (including limited English proficiency and primary language), age, disability, or sex (consistent with 45 CFR § 92.101(a)(2)) against qualified individuals in its services, programs, or activities.
Employment: MPNN BH does not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities regarding application procedures, hiring, advancement, discharge, compensation, training, or other terms, conditions, and privileges of employment. MPNN BH complies with all regulations and guidance issued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) under Title I of the ADA.
Effective Communication: MPNN BH will generally, upon request, provide free auxiliary aids and services to ensure effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in MPNN BH’s programs, services, and activities, including qualified sign language interpreters, documents in Braille, and other ways of making information and communications accessible to people who have speech, hearing, or vision impairments. MPNN BH provides free language assistance services to people with limited English proficiency (including individuals’ companions with limited English proficiency), which may include qualified interpreters and/or information in other languages.
Modifications to Policies and Procedures: MPNN BH will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of its programs, services, and activities.

The ADA does not require MPNN BH to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services or impose any undue financial or administrative burden.
Complaints that a program, service, or activity of MPNN BH is not accessible to persons with disabilities should be directed to ADA Coordinator, Lanell Jarvis, listed above.
MPNN BH will not place a surcharge on a particular individual with a disability or a group of individuals with disabilities to cover the cost of providing auxiliary aid/services or reasonable modifications of policy, such as retrieving items from locations that are open to the public but are not accessible to persons who use wheelchairs.

Grievance Procedure
MPNN BH has established a grievance procedure for use of anyone who wishes to file a complaint alleging discrimination in the provision of services, programs, activities, or benefits by MPNN BH.
Complaints should be directed to MPNN BH ADA Coordinator, Lanell Jarvis, at 804-824-5253 or ADACoordinator@mpnn.state.va.us. If you need help filing a grievance, Ms. Jarvis is available to help you.
