Welcome to CharterHouse Clubhouse: Your Pathway to Empowerment and Recovery in Tappahannock, Virginia!

CharterHouse Clubhouse is a special program that helps people with mental illness. Located in the lovely town of Tappahannock, Virginia, we are part of the Middle Peninsula Northern Neck. Our goal is to become the first Clubhouse in Virginia to get accredited by Clubhouse International.

At CharterHouse, we are dedicated to helping our members through:

• Health and Wellness Activities: Helping with physical and mental health.
• Employment Opportunities: Providing support for finding and keeping jobs.
• Snack Bar & Daily Lunch: Offering meals where members can enjoy good food and connect with others.
• Media & Social Media Activities: Improving skills with digital technology.
• Education and Technology: Helping with learning and using technology.
• Field Trips and Community Events: Exploring and joining community activities.
• Gardening and Outdoor Fun: Enjoying nature and gardening.
• Self-Advocacy: Encouraging members to speak up for themselves and others.
• And Much More: A variety of activities to suit different interests and needs.

At CharterHouse, we believe that people with mental illness can have fulfilling and productive lives. Our Clubhouse is a community center where members can make new friends and get support for jobs, education, and housing. We do this by:

• A Work-Ordered Day: Using members' talents and skills in the Clubhouse.
• Consensus-Based Decision-Making: Making sure members help decide how the Clubhouse works.
• Employment Opportunities: Helping members find jobs through our Transitional Employment Programs and Independent Programs.
• Education Support: Connecting members with educational resources in the community.
• Wellness Resources: Offering help with wellness when needed.
• Social and Recreational Events: Organizing fun social and recreational activities.
• Housing Assistance: Helping members find and keep safe and affordable housing.

If you’re 18 or older and have a mental illness, we invite you to visit CharterHouse. We can help with transportation through Medicaid or our own service, if available. Grants are also available for those without Medicaid.
